Jim Notes that,
"Ebar .... This is a
seaman, Edward Bahlarlie, a good guy from New
York, perhaps foolish but as we all were at that age. After being on such
isolated duty for twenty-one days who wouldn't put on a little show. On the
other hand a fall from there on the hard cold steel deck and then to have to
wait hours for a rescue vessel to come, one would never live through it.
Helicopters were few and far between back in those days."
